Avalon del Sol is in Centro Playa del Carmen, 2.5 blocks from the Caribbean and 1.5 blocks from Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue), the city's pedestrian-only main strip.
Playa Mamitas and Playa El Recodo are the closest public beaches (2.5 blocks). Playa Punta Esmeralda has a cenote that empties into the sea. Cozumel is a 45-minute ferry; Tulum is a 45-minute drive.
Pedestrian-only for roughly 40 blocks. Restaurants, rooftop bars, artisan markets, pharmacies and souvenir shops; busiest between Calle 10 and Calle 16 at night.

Chedraui Selecto supermarket is a 10-minute walk. Mega Soriana and Walmart are a short taxi. Farmacias del Ahorro and Similares are on most blocks.
From Cancun Airport (CUN): ADO bus (~$15 USD, 1 hour) or private shuttle (~$60 USD). Around town: walk or Uber/InDriver. To Cozumel: Ultramar ferry from the Playa pier (5 blocks). To Tulum/Cancun/Merida: ADO bus terminal at Calle 1 and 5th Avenue.
Centro Playa is safe and well-lit. Tap water is not potable - use the filtered dispenser in the condo. Tip 10-15% at restaurants. ATMs inside banks (Banorte, BBVA) give better rates.
